S40

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

S40 is designed to work without an account. Your personal academic information stays under your control on your device. This policy covers the S40 iOS app, its widgets and Live Activities.

Data stored on your device

S40 stores your timetable, manually entered classes, grades, academic events, your degree plan, saved classmates, language, appearance and reminder preferences in the app's local container. The widget reads the same protected local file through S40's App Group. This data is not sent to the developer or anyone else.

Classmates and share codes

Classmates are a local feature: there is no account, no server and no directory of students. A classmate appears in S40 only because you pasted a code someone gave you, and S40 works out the shared classes and free time entirely on your device using the course schedule it already stores.

Your own share code is short, plain text you can read before you send it — for example S40-1261-ITCE101.01,MATHS101.01-Hamza. It contains only the semester, the course codes and section numbers you are registered in, and a display name if you have set one. It contains no times, rooms, instructors, grades, student ID or device identifiers, and S40 shows you its contents, line by line, on the same screen. S40 never transmits it: it is created on your device when you open the screen, and it only goes anywhere if you choose to copy or share it. Removing a classmate deletes their details from your device.

Course lookups

When you open or refresh a published course, S40 sends only its course code, year and semester to the University of Bahrain's public course schedule (ucs.uob.edu.bh). S40 does not send your timetable, grades, name, student ID or UOB credentials. Like any website, UOB's server receives your device's IP address as part of the request; S40 has no control over UOB's systems.

Notifications and Live Activities

Class and event reminders are scheduled locally by iOS. Live Activities and widgets use your locally stored schedule. S40 does not operate a notification server.

Analytics and tracking

The current version of S40 doesn't include analytics, tracking or third-party SDKs and doesn't create a profile of you. The developer doesn't collect data from the app. If this changes, this policy will be updated before the change ships.

Your UOB account

S40 never asks for, stores or uses your UOB username or password.

Deleting your data

Use Reset S40 in the More tab to erase your timetable, grades and academic events. Deleting S40 from your device removes its remaining local app data.

Children

S40 is made for university students. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, because it collects no personal data at all.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
